What is Tai Chi? Tai chi is a practice that involves a series of slow gentle movements and body postures, a meditative state of mind, and controlled breathing. Tai Chi originated as an ancient martial art in China, whose father was Bodhidharma (Bodhidharma is considered the father of martial arts, who was taken from India to China and practiced meditation and yoga in the Shaolin Temple there. A different type of exercise, known as twisted force, was popularized over the years, which was one of the basic elements of Shaolin Kung Fu). It has become more focused on health promotion and rehabilitation.
